Guerilla Advertising in NYC
October 2025

Guerrilla Advertising in NYC is a visual research project exploring the graphic aesthetics and cultural impact of guerrilla poster advertising across New York City. Through an interactive website, a 152-page publication, and motion graphics, the project translates the layered, ephemeral nature of street posters into both physical and digital forms, encouraging viewers to reconsider the relationship between design, advertising, and public space.

    Website

The interactive website translates the visual chaos of guerrilla poster advertising into a dynamic digital experience built with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Through overlapping text, fragmented imagery, and motion, the site mirrors the layered, ephemeral nature of street posters, encouraging users to slow down and explore how design operates within New York City’s public spaces.

    Publication

Guerrilla Advertising in NYC is a 152-page Swiss-bound publication that investigates the visual culture of guerrilla poster advertising and its influence on consumer perception. Combining original photography with research on the effects of guerrilla advertising on consumers, the book extends the website’s visual language through repeated typography, large-scale type, and layered layouts that reflect the raw, disruptive strategies of street-level advertising across New York City.

    Motion Graphics

The motion graphic piece extends the project’s visual language through movement, emphasizing repetition, layering, and visual noise. By animating typographic and poster elements, the piece captures the rhythm and transience of guerrilla advertising, reinforcing the project’s focus on impermanence and urban visual density.

    AIGA NY (2025)

I had a great opportunity to present this project at AIGA NY Student Warm Ups for the
Creative Co-ops: How It Actually Works event.

It was especially meaningful to open the evening and speak alongside an inspiring group of designers.
